Privacy Policy and Public Records Law:

It is the policy of the State of Florida that all state records are open for public inspection. This policy is embodied in the Florida Constitution, together with the right of an individual to be free from unauthorized governmental intrusion into his/her private life, as provided in Article 1, Section 23. In recognition of these policies, the Florida Tax Collectors Association has established this Internet Privacy Policy.

The Florida Tax Collectors Association is a 501(c)(6) organization whose mission is to advance the office of Florida Tax Collectors through professional leadership, shared resources and collaboration.  Florida Tax Collectors fall within the broad definition of “agencies” to which Florida’s Public Records laws apply.  § 119.011(2), Florida Statutes.  Florida’s Public Records laws also apply to to any private entity “acting on behalf of” a public agency. Therefore, in an abundance of caution, the Florida Tax Collectors Association operates this website in accordance with Florida’s Public Records Policy.

When you utilize the website of the Florida Tax Collectors Association, you are acknowledging that personal information you provide may be subject to Florida’s Public Records Policy as stated in Chapter 119 of the Florida Statutes, and Article I, Section 24 of the Florida Constitution.  As a result, any written communication created or received by the Florida Tax Collectors’ Association may be made available to the public and media, upon request, unless otherwise exempt.  However, you do not have to give us personal information to visit our website or download our publications.

Please also note: Under Florida law, e-mail addresses are public records. If you do not want your e-mail address released in response to a public records request, do not send electronic mail to the Association.  Instead, contact the Association by mail.
